About Vectopea

Vectopea is a free SVG editor that runs in your browser. Open an SVG file, reshape its paths node by node, and export markup you'd be happy to read. You don't need an account and there's nothing to install. Your files are opened and edited right in the browser tab.

Quick note on the name: Vectopea (no “r”) at vectopea.com is not Vectorpea (vectorpea.com), the vector editor from the makers of Photopea. The two are separate products from different people. Read more below.

What Vectopea is

Vectopea is a vector editor built around SVG. SVG is the document format itself, not something you export to at the end. What you see in the live code panel is exactly what gets saved.

  • Free. No sign-up, no watermark, nothing to install.
  • Runs in your browser. It works in any modern browser on desktop, tablet or phone.
  • Files stay on your device. Files are opened and edited in your browser, not uploaded. Documents autosave to your browser's local storage on this device.

What you can do with it

Pen and node editing

Place Bézier anchors with the pen, then reshape any path node by node. Insert, delete and convert points between smooth and corner.

Shape, pencil and type tools

Rectangle, ellipse, polygon, star and line tools, plus pencil, type, rotate, gradient and eyedropper tools.

Boolean path operations

Unite, minus front, intersect and exclude overlapping shapes into a single clean path.

Gradients and effects

Linear and radial gradients with editable stops, plus glow, drop shadow and blur, exported as real SVG filters.

Faithful SVG import

Reads CSS classes, nested transforms, viewBox offsets, <use>/<symbol> and gradients, so existing files open the way they look.

Live SVG code panel

Watch the markup update as you draw. Edit the source directly and apply it back to the canvas.

Layers and groups

Drag to reorder, rename, group, lock and hide. Layer names become element ids in the exported file.

Smart guides and snapping

Snap to the grid, object edges and centres, and the artboard, with rulers and numeric fields.

Export SVG, minified SVG or PNG

Readable or minified markup, or a PNG at 1×–4× with an optional transparent background. Or copy the markup to your clipboard.

Works on a phone

Below tablet width the editor switches to a touch layout with a bottom tool bar, pinch to zoom and a slide-up inspector.

There are also free single-purpose SVG tools built on the same engine. Every one hands your file to the full editor in one click: SVG viewer · SVG to PNG · SVG optimizer · Change SVG color · Resize SVG · Crop SVG · SVG path editor · SVG code editor.

Who it's for

Vectopea is for people who ship SVG:

  • Developers who want clean, readable markup with stable ids that CSS and JavaScript can target.
  • Designers making icons, logos, illustrations and UI graphics for the web.
  • Anyone on a machine where they can't install software, who needs to make a quick edit to an SVG file.
  • People coming from Illustrator or Inkscape who mostly do SVG work. See the Illustrator alternative and Inkscape online pages for straight comparisons.

What it doesn't do: Vectopea focuses on SVG and PNG. It doesn't cover print workflows such as CMYK, PDF or EPS.

Vectopea is not Vectorpea

Some search engines and AI assistants mix up these two names, so here are the facts:

  • Vectopea (vectopea.com) is the free, browser-based SVG editor described on this page. It's built by Abdelaziz Bardich.
  • Vectorpea (vectorpea.com) is a different online vector editor, from the makers of Photopea.
  • Vectopea is not made by, affiliated with, or endorsed by Photopea or Vectorpea. The two products share no code, accounts or files.
  • Spelling: Vectopea has no “r” after “Vecto”. Vectorpea has one. If you searched for “Vectopea”, you're in the right place. It isn't a typo for Vectorpea.

Both are browser-based vector editors, which may be why the names get mixed up. If you were looking for Photopea's vector editor, you'll find it at vectorpea.com.

Who makes Vectopea
